Del Mar Beach and Zoomars

Our last ten days in San Diego were spent at Camp Pendleton's Del Mar Beach. This is a favorite of mine because you park right on the beach and it's one of the nicest beaches around. I love that we can just walk right to the water and don't have to drive anywhere. We ended up mostly staying right there, but we did venture out a few times.

Our friends Rachel and Justin came to stay with us again. This time we
kayaked the area between Del Mar and the Oceanside Harbor. Even Asa went!

We stopped here for lunch, but quickly realized the tide was coming up too fast to stick
around. The dogs sure had a blast running the beach right here with the waves coming up.

The next day we went to dinner at the Oceanside Marina. Superman had a fun, but Batgirl was sooo tired!

That night we watched an absolutely stunning sunset. People all over the country were
talking about it and we were fortunate enough to watch it dip right into the ocean.

More fun at the beach.

I relaxed by getting lost in a book while watching my children enjoy themselves at the beach.

For awhile Asher was focused on collecting as much seaweed and kelp as he could.
At one point he was upset when we returned to our spot and some was missing.

Of course they have to bury each other.

Every day they would ask to find new friends, so I'd walk them to the beach, let them pick who they wanted to play with and I'd sit near their parents. Within minutes my kids were playing with them as if they've known each other forever. I love how easy they make friends. They can play all out with random kids and then say goodbye at the end of the day knowing they won't see them again. But they know they can make new friends again tomorrow. And they will.

I was taking a picture of Asher and he asked for me to be in the picture with him. We gave
Journey the camera, but it didn't work out so well. She jumped in and I took a couple of us together.

One day we met my twin mom friend, Liese, and her kids at Zoomars to see all the animals.

They have about 60 guinea pigs! You can go into their enclosure
to pet and feed them as well as some rabbits and chickens.

We were here a couple years ago with Liese. When I told Asher where we were going,
he remembered playing in the corn box. He could hardly wait to jump in here again.

Afterwards we played at the adjacent park for a bit. Zoe and Chloe
are the same age as Asher and Journey and Zach is four years older.
