We just wrapped up six weeks in "sometimes sunny" San Diego. I say that because of the phenomenon San Diegans calls "May Gray" and "June Gloom", when the sun tends to hide behind the clouds more often than not. It was chilly, but when the sun shone thru, it felt amazing. Our first month was spent at Fiddler's Cove in Coronado, another fabulous site in our string of great "backyards". Our site was right on the San Diego Bay marina, our door maybe 8yds from the water's edge.
We did some exploring, but we really enjoyed the slow pace of hanging out at our campsite and spending time with friends (old and new). Our full-time family friends that we'd been traveling with thru New Mexico and Arizona, found Tucson's 100+ degree weather way too hot, so we convinced them to come spend a week with us. The kids had fun reuniting for one more week of tag and games. We certainly enjoyed their company and Chris' amazing dinners of crab legs with special butter sauce! Yum!

One night we all went to Old Town for great Mexican food and dancing at Fiesta de Reyes.
Our friends Justin and Rachel spent a weekend in our guest house (tent),
joining us in kayaking to a nearby beach and visiting Cabrillo National Monument.
We spent most of our stay camped right next to the wonderful Johnson family.
We first met them after asking to meet their pet pig, Willie, and soon became friends.
Our kids played well together. Their teenage son was especially loved by Asher. He helped him ride without training wheels and created a really fun scavenger hunt for the kids which lead them to a candy treasure that he bought for them. So sweet!
We spent many days paddle boarding with them and nights sitting together outside. We even stayed longer than we had planned just to have a little more time together. Maybe one day we will have a chance to visit them in Rhode Island.
We kayaked almost daily. The kids loved seeing the family of seagulls nesting in a sailboat at the marina and a bunch of jackrabbits at the bird sanctuary right on the other side. Daddy suped-up the remote boat with the help of a neighbor so now it races thru the water.
We visited Seaport Village and explored the tide pools at La Jolla, Coronado and Cabrillo. Asher even let a crab walk over his foot.
Journey wore her new Indian anklets that Daddy gave her for Christmas.
They built a fort and took a silly picture for Father's Day.
We heard the Donut Bar was popular and it did not disappoint! We were fortunate that they had any left when we arrived at 11am as they usually sell out by then. Asher selected an orange one as big as his head, and to celebrate Grandpa's birthday, a "Homer" (birthday cake donut) that we all shared.
We loved our visits to the Coronado library.
Our neighbor caught a shark right behind our RV! We saw numerous stingray and sand crabs (fleas) and yes, they bite!
A bedtime bikeride
