Passing thru Mono Lake, California

On our way from Vegas to Oregon, we stopped to run around Mono Lake for a bit. Daddy and I came here with the dogs,
before kids. I was excited for the kids to see this unique lake where salt and minerals rise as pillars out of the water.

Asher was excited to spot a snake along the path.

This whole area just looks so different. The lake is 2.5 times as salty as the ocean!

My favorite view is from the other side of these pillars, but the trail to that
side was closed while we were there, so we had to settle for this angle.

The water is a neat color, but the black along the edge...those are swarms of black sand flies, yuck!

Robyn painted Asher's nails, and yes, his shoes are way too big,
but he loves them and refuses to wait until they "fit to wear them.

The kids often make up their own story while playing. Here they are holding "freeze stars". When
they throw them at your feet, it makes you freeze until they unfreeze you, by saying, well, "unfreeze".

Asher's hair has really lightened up over the summer. Such a pretty
mixture of shades. Journey also has natural highlights throughout her hair.

Back to the truck. Next stop: Oregon!

  1. We just mentioned Mono Lake in a 'where we want to go' conversation last night. Thanks for the photos!
