Ainsworth State Park, Oregon

We wanted to spend an entire week near Portland to see not only downtown, but the waterfalls along the north border of the state, so we chose Ainsworth State Park as our home base. Though it's a bit of a drive to downtown, it was a fantastic location for hiking to waterfalls and just being surrounded by green and peace. Daddy had to go back to Vegas for a day and a half, so the kids and I spent a few hours hiking from our campsite.

We think this tree looks like a face. Do you see it?

Interesting, curly ferns grow here.

At one point Asher asked for my phone to take photos. This entertained them for quite some time.

They practiced reading and navigation, by having to find which trail was ours and follow the signs.
