A week in Deland, Florida

Daddy's longtime friends Drew and Margie live in Deland, so when we planned to head to Florida, we had to stop for a visit. We spent a week with them and had a ball. I'm actually wondering how I haven't met them over the last ten years. Margie just LOVES my kids and she is so amazing with them which was a huge blessing. They introduced us to Rodeo Whip, a super yummy local ice cream shop.

They have a gorgeous home and THIS is their backyard-  Ahhhhhhh! Such a tranquil place!

They also have the coolest, lighted, bubble tub which the kids enjoyed every chance they got.

Daddy helped Drew trim trees, and the kids took advantage of their chance to ride the lift.

We caught this green anole and watched her turn from dark brown to bright green. Once we
let her go, she stayed on the swing with us for awhile and allowed Journey to photograph her.
{We know she's a she because there is no fan on her neck, the easy way to identify a male.}

Later we caught a Cuban Tree Frog. Journey carried him around for quite awhile.

She even let Asher hold him....briefly.

A trip to the docks gave the kids a chance to step aboard a houseboat for the first time. They were excited to see Drew and Margie's "RV on the water". Although Asher was disappointed because he thought we should be going for a ride. I kept hearing, "we're not moving", ha. It was very impressive inside with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, living/dining room and upper deck.

Journey had her very first ever haircut! Four years we waited to cut her hair. If you pulled it straight it would reach past her waist, but it tangled so easily. Just a couple inches off of it makes it look so much healthier. Thanks Margie!
