A White Christmas in Vegas

We woke on Christmas morning to a special surprise, snow! Asher was the first to see it, and boy was he excited! They threw on their coats, hats and boots and ran outside, without even noticing their gifts laid out on the table. They played in the snow for a couple hours before we talked them into coming inside for breakfast and to open their gifts.

Finally it was time to open presents.

When you live in an RV, there isn't room for a big Christmas tree. This year, we traded in a real one for a 6" green felt tree that the kids put together and decorated. They also helped me put together this nativity scene which is not only adorable, but was a fun project for us.

Tickets to Legoland were their favorite gift this year, thanks Grandpa and Grandma!

It was really wonderful to see the refuge we had come to know so well transformed by a layer of fresh snow.

That night we enjoyed a Christmas dinner at Brian and Marcia's house with their children and parents. It was so nice of them to include us in their family gathering.

After the Christmas rush was over, we visited the Magical Forest at Opportunity Village. We purchased the kids' tickets on Groupon which included admission, hot chocolate and unlimited rides. My favorite part is walking thru the brightly lit forest and seeing the decorations. Each tree and tiny house has been adopted by a local business who decorates it with their own special theme.

The kids loved all the rides, even this super tall tube slide, which I'll admit,
made me nervous for them. They had fun and gave each other a high five afterwards.

While this experience is a little pricey, it's for a good cause and the kids always enjoy themselves.
