When researching hiking on Oahu, the Lanikai Pillbox trail is highly recommended. While it's steep, it's only 1.6 miles and is a good hike for children who are up for the challenge. The trail begins in a residential area right next to the most gorgeous golf course I've ever seen.
Hiking this ridge provides a spectacular view of the town of Kailua and Lanikai Beach, rated the best in the US.
At the top are two old military bunkers (pillboxes).
