Exploring the Malecón de Miraflores

The Malecón de Miraflores is a six-mile walkway along the city's cliffs, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Malecón runs thru numerous parks and even along the coolest mall that exists. The views from just about anywhere on it are breathtaking.

One morning we met the local birding club at Parque de Bicentenario, which is the south end of the Malecón de Miraflores. It was fun to join the group of birders from the area, including the most enthusiastic of them all, a young girl. I loved seeing her response to seeing hummingbirds right in front of us!

This park just opened in 2020 and is stunning! It offers multiple trails at different elevations overlooking gardens and the Pacific Coast.

It was such a pretty place, we returned a second time to enjoy the views and look for more birds.

A common sound along the streets and parks in Miraflores is the call of the Bananquit.

Journey helped me locate and photograph Rufous-collared Sparrows here. She also got a nice shot of an Amazilia Hummingbird.
Contrasting views along the Malecon. Bustling city on one side. Cliffs with a huge drop down to the coast below.

The Malecon walks you right along this open air mall with multiple levels, a movie theater, numerous restaurants and a stunning view from just about everywhere.

We dined on the patio of Mangos under the tan umbrellas while watching Inca Terns and Peruvian Boobies below! (Those are birds, people!) What a wonderful view!

Have your heard about the new Journey Girl Barbie?

Continuing along the Malecon, looking back towards the mall.
