Tsukiji Fish Market and Honganji temple

We started our day off at the Tsukiji Market, the largest fish and seafood market in the world!

This was Asher and Journey's favorite shop because the guy let them 

try everything- clams, teeny tiny fish, special beans and more!

After the samples, they were ready for more, so we let them shop and pick out the items they wanted. Well played, shop owner, well played.

Asher bought the tiny fish while Journey picked up the clams and some grasshoppers to try.

Another vendor gave us seaweed tea. I wasn't a fan, but the kids happily drank mine and theirs.

This vendor's hot food caught Asher's eye. Food here is a guessing game, it seems fewer people here speak english. You just have to buy something that looks interesting and try it.

The kids love edamame, so we figured this might be a safe bet. 

The edamame fish cake gets his thumbs-up approval.

Daddy was ready for some coffee, so we stopped at a little coffee shop so he could enjoy a cup while the kids dug into their purchases. They ate the whole bag of clams and teeny tiny fish.

Across the street from the fish market is the Honganji Buddhist temple.

The building is gorgeous! The ceilings, the walls, and interior are covered in gold, dark wood and bright colors.

We sat and watched some type of ceremony take place. It appeared to be a blessing of some sort. While we are Christian, I feel it's important to respect other religions and beneficial to observe their traditions.

After this we took the train across town to Shinjuku to see the view from the Government Building and walk around the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. (See next post)
